TSLA: A NexGen Company Worth Watching

Jun 01, 2017

Not long ago there was a company that Wall Street loved to hate. It was losing money and doing things differently than anyone had seen before. Earlier this week, that company’s share price hit $1,000. Any idea what I’m talking about? That’s right… Amazon (AMZN). I'm bringing this up because there’s another company that’s defying gravity and the doubters. Tesla (TSLA) broke through a triple-top pattern to an all-time high on Tuesday. The breakout came on above-average volume – a very bullish signal. Continue Reading…

Time to Start Making Money In Self-Driving Vehicles

May 31, 2017

I’ll admit that even I was skeptical about self-driving cars until just a couple of years ago. Most people still can’t quite imagine walking outside, having your car pick you up and then driving you to your destination. We’re still not quite there, but we will be sooner than a lot of people realize. What turned me from a skeptic into a believer – at least in the investment sense – is when I started to notice the increasing amount of money flowing into this futuristic technology. Continue Reading…

F Looks to Capture the Self-Driving Market

May 28, 2017

Ford Motor (F) made a shift toward the next-generation of vehicles on Monday when it replaced CEO Mark Fields with Jim Hackett. Normally a change in leadership wouldn’t be this noteworthy, but Hackett is the former head of Ford Smart Mobility – the division focused on connected and autonomous vehicles. But does the CEO change and new direction make Ford a buy? I'll give you my thoughts on that question, and we'll take a closer look at the company from both a technical and fundamental perspective. Continue Reading…

AMD Is About to Lose Support

May 25, 2017

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has been on an unbelievable rally over the last 14 months, soaring more than 700% from its January 2016 low to a decade high this February. It consolidated those gains from there, and has been on quite the rollercoaster ride over the last month. The stock is approaching its post-earnings low near the 200-day moving average, which is a level it has held above for more than a year, and the action suggests that AMD will retest support soon. There are two ways investors can view this, and we'll talk about each in this latest article. Continue Reading…

Using NexGen Technology to Fight Terrorism

May 24, 2017

In most ways, the future looks promising and exciting. I’m not just talking about the opportunities we have to make money, but more so the innovative advancements that are coming our way. We are living in very exciting times. Unfortunately, a couple of things that do not appear likely to change anytime soon are violent conflicts between nations and the scourge of terrorism. We all hope that innovative breakthroughs will help foster the next-gen strategy in fighting terrorism, and you can bet this is an area I watch closely. There are a few potential ways to invest in this theme. Continue Reading…

Time to Buy

May 21, 2017

I have to address the elephant in the room (no pun intended toward the Republicans): Wednesday’s sell-off was one of the worst market sessions of the last few years. While you can’t ignore the action because short-term support levels were breached on above-average volume, keep in mind that one day does not make a market. That’s why we need to stay focused on the bigger picture, which is one of our core areas of research in NexGen investing for both the broader market and individual stocks. This is the time to get your cash ready. Continue Reading…

Is SNAP’s Bounce for Real This Time?

May 19, 2017

I didn’t go anywhere near Snap (SNAP) when it went public back on March 2, and I haven’t been in it since. In fact, I’m not shorting stocks these days, but if I were, I told my employees that this is one I would short the heck out of from the get-go. SNAP snapped following its first earnings report as a public company, crashing 21% the next day and blowing right through what had been the bottom of its range. It's up 15% from its low, so the question now is whether SNAP is for real or if this latest bounce is another head fake. Continue Reading…

Cybersecurity Stocks Jump on Global Attack

May 15, 2017

They say the WannaCry cyberattack that locked up 200,000 thousand computers in 150 countries – impacting everything from hospitals to banks to factories to schools and more – was probably the work of amateurs. Not exactly a comforting thought, is it? Most companies are not sufficiently prepared for cyberattacks and cannot risk being hit by one. Cybercrime damages are expected to cost $6 trillion dollars a year by 2021, double the $3 trillion in 2016. That makes cybersecurity a powerful NexGen investment theme that has to be on your radar. Continue Reading…

NexGen Opportunities in Germany?

May 14, 2017

At the start of 2017, there were two early elections circled on investors’ calendars that held the power to change Europe forever: the Dutch in mid-March and the French in April. After last year’s surprising Brexit vote in favor of the U.K. leaving the European Union (EU), there was a real possibility that the far-right populists could win the vote and lead to similar outcomes in both the Netherlands and France. Now global investors turn their attention to the even bigger German national election in September. Continue Reading…

Why I’m Still a Major Bull on AAPL

May 12, 2017

When you’re the largest company in the world, it can be difficult to top the return of a basket of the 500 biggest publicly-traded stocks. But don’t tell Apple (AAPL) that, because its shares are up more than 32% this year versus a gain of just 7% on the S&P 500. As many of you already know, I have been a major bull on AAPL for years and I continue to be one today. However, I am also a realist. The stock is overdue for a rest, so in today's article we'll talk about what I’d like to see before pulling the trigger. Continue Reading…
